Time: 3:00 pm
The Kenan Center in partnership with the First Presbyterian Church of Lockport will present an afternoon talk with Jeremy Begbie, Sunday, February 11, 3:00 p.m. in the Kenan House, 433 Locust St., Lockport.
Begbie is a faculty member of Duke Divinity School, North Carolina, and the director of Duke Initiatives in Theology and the Arts. In addition to being a musician, Begbie is the author of numerous books including Resounding Truth: Christian Wisdom in the World of Music and Voicing Creation’s Praise: Towards a Theology of the Arts. A reception to follow. This event is free to the public. Seats are limited; advance registration is recommended by calling 433-2617.
Rev. Jim Hardy, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, encourages area church musical directors, choir directors, and organists of all denominations to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity. “The informal nature of the interfaith Kenan Speaker Series allows individuals with an interest in contemporary issues on religion and faith to dialogue with imminent speakers which is rarely possible at conferences and educational seminars,” says Rev. Hardy. “We’re very fortunate to have the support of the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust to bring such accomplished, international speakers to Western New York.”
In celebration of the Kenan Center’s 50th Anniversary, a second event will take place September 23 featuring Sister Joan Chittister, one of the most influential religious and social leaders of our time.
